Child Services
Ages 5 to 12
At Hispanic Community Counseling Services (HCCS), we are dedicated to nurturing the mental health and well-being of children in North Philadelphia through culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care. Our Child Services provide comprehensive, bilingual support to help children ages 5 and older overcome challenges, build resilience, and thrive in their homes, schools, and communities.

What are Child Services?
Our Child Services are designed to address a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges faced by children, including anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, behavioral issues, and substance use. Delivered by our bilingual and bicultural therapists, these services are tailored to the developmental needs of children and rooted in Hispanic cultural values such as familismo (family importance) and respeto (respect).
We offer a variety of evidence-based interventions, including individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychological testing, and mobile therapy, all integrated into personalized treatment plans that promote healing and growth.
Our Services
- Individual Therapy: One-on-one sessions with a therapist to help children process emotions, develop coping skills, and address challenges like anxiety or trauma using techniques such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and play therapy.
- Family Therapy: Collaborative sessions that involve parents, guardians, or siblings to strengthen family bonds, improve communication, and support the child’s recovery in a culturally relevant context.
- Group Therapy: Peer-based sessions where children connect with others facing similar challenges, fostering social skills and emotional support in a safe, communal setting.
- Psychiatric Evaluations: Comprehensive assessments by psychiatric professionals to diagnose conditions and guide treatment, ensuring cultural sensitivity and family involvement.
- Medication Management: Expert oversight of medications for conditions like ADHD or depression, with regular follow-ups to ensure effectiveness and minimize side effects.
- Psychological Testing: Standardized assessments to evaluate cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning, aiding in diagnosis and school support planning.
